Beginnings are Still Hard

‘Nuff said.  Or perhaps it’s that there is little to say when I’m in hand to hand combat with a manuscript.

THE DAY

OTOH, a bunch of us Egmont Last Listers chewed the fat and caught up.  All I can say is that it sounds as if we’ve kind of all had our ups and downs.

Otherwise, I really did just work today.

What I’m Watching:
The Americans.  Man, I remember when The Day After aired, though I’ve never seen the film.  This would’ve been in 1983, and I was a second-year resident in psychiatry at the time.  What I remember was that everyone worried how the patients would react.  I trained in a place where you’re talking patients who sometimes stayed for years because they were that ill.  So the staff had lots of discussions about whether we should let patients watch the film or not; if we should debrief them; all that stuff.  As I recall, I think I was on-call that night, and so that probably explains why I’ve never seen the thing, though I remember that several patients didn’t do well.  It was kind of a busy night on-call.  But the existential dread that The Americans highlighted was definitely front and center.

Then I started the second season of Grace and Frankie.  I’ll be honest; I wasn’t a huge fan to begin with, but I’m sort of bored already, and I haven’t even made it through the first episode yet!
