They just are.
THE DAY
One thing about beginnings: sometimes you don’t really find them until you’re well through the book or even at the end. This has happened to me more than once. (Actually, it happened with the novella I just finished.) So I try not to stress too much, knowing that I will be revisiting the beginning of this book several times.
Still doesn’t mean you don’t want to get it right the first time, though.
Worked on the book most of the day, breaking off for various workmen-types. (Does it seem to you that’s ALL I do? Well then, imagine what it’s like for me.) The bat-guy was here; we found more guano at the side of the house, and I’d heard the bats during the weekend. So we’re leaving the valve up a little bit longer just in case there’s anything still left in there. The bat-guy was actually a little surprised that I haven’t seen bats wandering up the walls. I know the image will make other folks shudder, but I think it would be kind of neat.
Also talked to a contractor about a project.
Mainly, though, I wrote and tried to make sense of where I was going.

What I’m Reading:
Fall for Anything by Courtney Summers. Not bad. A little thin on descriptive detail, but I tend to over-describe, so… I’d actually read this several years back, remembered being underwhelmed but wanted to give it another chance.

What I’m Watching:
Motive. How sad it only ran for four years (ended its run this year, though the episodes haven’t all aired here yet). I was just getting into it, though I’ve still got Season 3, currently airing, to go. Then I’ll move on to Grace and Frankie, a series I liked okay but didn’t just adore. <shrug> It’s free, and those hours on the machines can be deadly.

What I’m Listening to:
Tinnitus. Let me tell you: not fun. Did you know that tinnitus drove William Shatner to think of suicide? Obviously he didn’t, and neither will I, but I can relate.
