Literally.
THE DAY
Yet another life maintenance day, mostly spent dealing with the bats–yes, that was a plural–and then updating the website (a garden that must also be planted) and potting tomatoes that just MUST be potted already.
Completely stressed all day over the new idea for a book. Sometimes I think I do this because starting anything that I know will be a long slog/haul always makes me question if I know what I’m doing.
Then, too, it has been such a tough last two years, with no books coming out on my end that I worry I’ve forgotten how.
Then I think back to the past 10 days and, particularly, the last three days when I just despaired of finishing in time because the story just wouldn’t cooperate and become the story instead of the whole NOVEL it wanted to be.
But I do know how to work to deadline and, thankfully, the parameters were such that I could massage the word count. If it had been firm, I’d have found a way, too.
So that, really, was the day. Gymed, did errands, all those life maintenance things.
But I have to write this book and sell it now because I gotta pay for the bat repairs to the bat house in which I find myself.

What I’m Watching:
Motive. Still. It’s harmless.

What I’m Reading:
Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepard. I’m not a fan of Gothic romance (I’m not a fan of romance, period), but I do like the old books on which this series is based. I wasn’t wild with The Madman’s Daughter (the love triangle drove me crazy) and I’m sure that will happen here, but I’m a sucker for well-done Gothics, and I liked TMD well enough (enough that I got pissed but kept going, wondering why I was).
Wow, talk about damning with faint praise.

What I’m Listening to:
Started Extreme Prey, which might be a mistake. Ferrone is a terrific narrator, and Sandford has a very solid style that’s easy to appropriate. So I might have to stop. We’ll see. Might to to Dracula instead; more in keeping with what I’m going to be working on next.
