So nothing was done. Maybe…250 words, but they don’t really count at this point because I had no time to give this thing any kind of sustained attention.
THE DAY
Got up early and tried to pound out at least a page, which I think I got (and a touch more) before heading off to writer’s conference and then to spend the rest of the day with the MIL. The conference was pretty good; heard from Lynn Raye Harris and Ashley Chappell before I had to bug out to meet the MIL and husband. There was nothing said that I didn’t already know, pretty much, but it’s always good to hear confirmation. Personally, I think the conference next year would be better served spending an entire day on the ins and out, nuts and bolts, pros and cons of self-pubbing since that came up a lot, but that’s just me.
Then the rest of the day with the MIL. Lunch at a place that was only so-so (FarmBurger, SO not worth it) and then a quick tour of Lowe Mill before heading out for the botanical gardens. Spent most of the afternoon wandering around there, and that I really like because we were outside. Then quickly home, a few more sentences for the outline, and then out to dinner at The Bottle which was, again, great with the food, but the bar was utterly hopeless. (Even my MIL was appalled. Like how do you screw up a martini? They manage.) Next time, we do wine, if anything, or cocktails here first. Do not waste your time at that bar.
