Rainy Day

THE DAY

I have to grouse because it thoroughly SUCKS to be in a city where everything–mainly, the gym–closes down for Easter.  (No, in case you were wondering: the gym never closed down in Wisconsin.)

So it was a rainy and claustrophobic day on the mountain.

Nevertheless, got stuff done despite the slower than molasses internet and managed to bake a Sunday’s Cake that isn’t quite cake but Chocolate Swirl Babka:

Not bad, but I didn’t have a large enough loaf pan, so this is a bit more deflated and free-form than it should be.  Having tasted the filling that oozed out, though…I think it will do.

Given the whole internet thing, I’ll have to set up my page for the scavenger hunt tomorrow.  :<P

OTOH, this means I also didn’t spend too much time fretting over various news stories.  I mean, how much more frothing about Trump (or Cruz) can anyone really do?  Trump is unfit; Cruz isn’t much better; and there is NOTHING anyone can say that will convince me otherwise.

Still, there was this very interesting article on Politico about Al Franken about a possible running mate for Clinton:

Now, as cute and fun as this seems (and I sure wouldn’t be upset)…Franken doesn’t bring anything to the ticket.  It isn’t a question of bringing in Bernie Sanders’s supporters; if the young are as fickle as they always seem to be during elections, most won’t even bother to vote if their guy doesn’t get the nod.  So while I understand the Sanders angle, it’s a non-starter.

What Clinton needs is someone who will a) deliver Ohio and b) deliver Florida, and of the two, she needs someone who can deliver Florida.  Franken can’t help her with either.  So this is sweet, but it would also be ultimately self-defeating.

Here’s what’s more sobering, though: Trump is ahead of Clinton in polls in both state.  Which means he really could be elected president.

And then I start looking at Canada.

What I’m Listening to:
The NCAA Elite Eight.  Syracuse was a shocker (and deserved; what a comeback!).  I don’t know how I feel about Notre Dame.  They did beat WI, after all.
