THE DAY
A very brief entry today, mainly because I’ve gotten sidetracked this evening taking care of doctorly stuff. But started a new outline today and it almost immediately went sideways (in a good, richer way, I think). The downside is that I may not be able to use what I’ve already written. OTOH, this often happens after you’ve given a book a rest. You come back, see the problems, and think . . . okay.
But I’m still kind of hopeful I’ll find a way to meld the narratives. Only problem is that the one I’ve reimagined already has two narrative lines (past and present), and I’m not sure I can justify/manage/see the need for yet another. But let’s see.
Did house maintenance, too. I was going to treat myself to a movie, but I failed to make my quote (five outline chapters; only managed two). I get a reward when I do the work.

What I’m Watching:
Bosch. Finally picking up, but–yes–I was right about where this is going. Which sort of defeats the purpose of watching the show. I understand it’s based on the books, but it really kind of follows the books. So if you’ve read a lot of them–and I have, though I stopped years back when the writing got hopelessly bad and downright boring–you can see where the plot’s going. A shame. The show still isn’t that watchable. I would probably flip to something else if I were actually sitting still instead of exercising.

What I’m Reading:
Articles on the BC Gold Rush, the Klondike Gold Rush, the Cheyenne, the Sioux, the Dog Soldiers, frontier medicine (which all kind of explains why so few words got written today). I had to figure out names, for heaven’s sake. Just about to begin a biography of George Bent (Halfbreed).
