Family Day

THE DAY

Spent getting up very early, traveling, then the rest of the day with family.  Saw the Newseum where I’ve never been.  Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much but was glad to be proven wrong.  Spent most of the afternoon there and still didn’t see all of it.  Definitely worth a return visit.

Then, dinner out at a pretty nice place.  The husband and a kid had cocktails.  Me, I watched; well, okay, I had a sip of each (treating my stomach gingerly until the heartburn is gone, baby, gone for a good week or so).   They were quite nice:  a Buffalo Sazerac on the left and Rand’s Regulation on the right.  I took pics of the cocktail menu so I could try to recreate these at home.

Saw an only okay Othello.  The Iago wasn’t bad, but the stage directions were quite poor, and the guy who played Othello was very one-note, wooden.  OTOH, I’m spoiled.  The best production I ever saw was with James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer.  This was about thirty years ago at Stratford in Connecticut.  Hard to top.

So, yeah…no writing today.  There will be no writing tomorrow or the day after either.  I’m trying to be okay about that.

What I’m Watching:
Not a blessed thing.
***
What I’m Reading:
Pet Sematary on the plane when I wasn’t passed out from getting up at 4:30 a.m.  I’m in the home stretch and now, FINALLY, it’s picking up.

What I’m Listening to:
Actually had a tough time hearing parts of the play tonight.  The guy who played Othello swallowed a lot of his words (and he had an accent to boot).
