When Less is More

THE DAY

Yup, that kind of day when I spent a lot of time taking out and less putting in, though I guess I put in about 1500, 2000 words?  Something like that; it was tough to tell.

Day started out okay.  Slept through the night for once, which I credit to staying up later.  The downside is…I was tired! But spent the first hour this morning firing off emails to folks I met last night and reading a few articles before finally pulling up short with the realization that I might spend all bloody day reading and looking things up and get nothing done!

So wrenched myself away and started back in.  Like I said, took a weed-whacker to the thing.  Sure, it reads better, but I hate having to wear Wellies on account of the blood spatter.

Broke off to deal with a repair person and then the gym, weight training.  Then back here, whipped up dinner, wrote in-between tasks.

Not a bad day.  Not stellar, but we take what we can get.

Oh, but made a stellar cocktail based on one I’d had last week at Amendment XXI: Fire and Brimstone (bourbon, Benedictine,  ginger liquer, Peychaud’s with a twist).

The original recipe calls for B&B and ginger syrup.  Since I had only one of the Bs and ginger liqueur, I figured…split the difference.

What I’m Watching:
In such a state that I left the house without the iPod.  Had a semi-freak out.  Finally settled for watching reruns of SVU.  There are worse things to do when you’re hypoxic from exercise.  A pity I can’t think what those might be.

What I’m Reading:
Lurching to the end of Pet Sematary.  Impatient with this bloody book.  Also read several articles on blacks in Nazi Germany.

What I’m Listening to:
Serial, Part 7.  Why am I bothering?  In the hopes that this will get better?  The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, and Sarah Koenig has shown no ability to make this remotely interesting. Sadly, neither has Beau Bergdahl.  The guy was a bizarre, socially inept misfit; he had years to think up an alibi.  Time to move on and let this guy be court-martialed.
