Putzy

THE DAY

Not much to say about the day.  Woke up feeling pretty putzy, as I’ve actually been feeling all week.  The husband and I finally decided that I’d been poisoned by soup from Whole Foods earlier in the week, since that’s when my GI symptoms started.  (Let’s just say I was up and down a lot at night, and the problem with being up is that once I wake up and do whatever..then I’m awake for a while.)  Still, I have managed to do a fair amount all week.

Last night, though: yet another sudden awakening with several hours spent awake after that.  So I overslept again (up at 8 instead of my usual 6:30).  Still, managed to get some stuff done.  Didn’t finish the section I wanted, though I got about halfway through and I can taste the end, so it’ll be done by tomorrow morning before I go swim.

Otherwise, went to the gym, baked a cake that’s still cooling in the pan.  Used a nice dragon pan I got a while back because it was just so neat.  The problem with the pan is that I’m not convinced it’s the best MADE pan.  I baked that sucker much longer than the recipe called for, and finally decided to pull that baby out of the oven before it completely burned.  So we’ll see how it looks when I unmold it.

Okay, just did that:

Not bad.  Not as detailed as I’d like, but maybe it would look better if done with a vanilla cake.  I’ll drizzle a chocolate ganache over the eggs and call it a day.

The husband also suggested that I maybe watch football, read a book, do anything but fret.  I can’t decide if I’m just naturally fretful, or it’s because I haven’t felt well.  I’m also feeling a little squeezed because I know I’m going to be dealing with a lot of other stuff by week’s end (traveling) , with no time to write.  So I’m…fretful.  Not sure that worrying will do me a whit of good, though.  Just think how much I might write if I didn’t waste energy worrying about not writing.

Whatever…I’m kind of watching the Panthers and Cardinals.  (Although I am glad I was wrong about the Broncos; I would like to see Peyton Manning go out as a winner.)

What I’m Watching:
Fortitude: I am so enjoying this series. Devouring it and will be very sorry when it ends, but I discovered today that it will be returning for a second season, which is great.

What I’m Reading:
Pet Sematary: I wish I could say that this is terrific King, but it’s not.  It is fitfully interesting, but I also kind of feel that since there aren’t that many King books to choose from, I’ll just plow through it.  OTOH, it does make me wonder why King was so well-regarded in between some of his really great books.

Also finally got Operation Paperclip  on loan from the library.  I’ll probably try to start that in the next couple of days.

What I’m Listening to:
Nada.  That’s okay.
