New Year’s Day

THE DAY

As I mentioned yesterday, with the daughter-person visiting, I was pretty much resigned to getting nothing done–and that was true: I got nothing done (well…about 380 words, but that’s it). I might have gotten more done, but the husband pointed out that if we were going to spend the day with the daughter, we ought to exercise early.  Which we did. Only 75 minutes of aerobics at the gym then another 2 hours walking with the daughter-person in the park, including a quick jaunt to the husband’s man-cave 😉

Then, home and started cooking because it’s Friday night and the daughter-person’s visiting, so I wanted to do something nice.  Ends up making rack of lamb, pink peas with collards, roast vegetables with lemon aioli.  Nice cocktails, too: started out with Ascensions (which presupposed that you like absinthe) and then Stratospheres.  I’ll be honest; the Ascensions were a little too heavy on the absinthe, so we chucked them.  No point in wasting calories with a so-so drink.

So…that was the day.  I need to learn to relax into these things.

What I’m Watching:

Finished up Danny Collins; a surprisingly good film that managed to hit all the right notes, even though I’ve seen this story before.  Then started Results; about thirty minutes into it.  Cute, interesting, and since it’s a paid rental, you bet I’ll watch.

What I’m Reading (and Listening to):

Handling the Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist.  Just began the book, so I don’t really know yet.  Seems to be an interesting take on zombies.
