Nothing Doing

Well, not quite.

I knew it was going to be a low word day because a) it was a science look-up day and–more importantly–b) we entertained this evening.  I just didn’t appreciate HOW low that word count would be.  Instead of fussing and fuming and getting all pissed off, what I’ll say is that I really had budgeted enough time to finish what I wanted but that when you depend on other people to do their work in a timely fashion…all bets are off.

So other people pissed away hours of my time.  For which I also paid them.

Which DOES tick me off.

Whatever…did my swim; did the best I could with the words.  Also watched the first video session of the next installment in the cover design course I’m taking online.  (Fascinating stuff.)  Entertained and made many truly splendid ginger Manhattans and French Strawberry Blonde Martinis.  People ate and drank a lot; I watched a bottle of bourbon get sucked virtually dry by one guy.  But everyone had a good time, and they’re good people.  So that’s okay.

It’s just the low words that’s ticking me off.  That, and I woke up at 3 this morning, thinking about a character and how I have to tear up EVERYTHING I’ve written about him and start again.

This is what happens when the story finally finds you.  It pushes everything else out of the way.

Oooh, I should write about this tomorrow . . . which is another bloody day.

Onward.
