Had a load of lovely fresh-picked apples from the local CSA and so had NO excuse not to make this.
I’ve made this cake before, with equally spectacular results. This isn’t much to look at–no fancy ganaches or glaze or even a smattering of confectioner’s sugar–but this cake doesn’t need it. When the cake is still hot, you pour on this luscious buttermilk sugar glaze and let that thing drink up all that buttery, sugary goodness before you turn it out.
Trust me: the result is sticky, gooey…and oh-so-good.
Is this in one of her books? It looks and sounds wonderful!
No, but you can find it in Melissa Gray’s ALL CAKES CONSIDERED.
